David Warner makes 178 runs against Afghanistan

David Warner made Australia's highest World Cup individual score of 178, beating the 158 of Matthew Hayden against West Indies in 2007. Warner's innings included 19 fours and five sixes . With this, Australia made a record World Cup total of 417 for six wickets in a Pool A match against Afghanistan. Warner's 260-run second-wicket partnership with Steve Smith was also an Australian ODI record.

RBI eases norms for home loans for up to Rs 10 lakh

In a bid to boost affordable housing, the RBI has eased the norms for home loans for up to Rs 10 lakh. This move will mandate banks to add stamp duty and registration charges to the cost of the unit for calculating LTV (loan to value). These charges that form around 15 per cent of the cost of the house are currently not included in the cost of housing property. This step is expected to lighten the burden on the borrowers from economically weaker sections (EWS) and low income groups (LIG).

UAE Exchange is set to integrate FLASHremit, an instant account credit facility, with IMPS, a network of banks in India launched by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). This move will enable customers to conveniently send money instantly to their beneficiaries in India in Indian Rupees. Customers in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), an important focus region for YES bank, will largely benefit from this deal. This initiative will boost YES bank's commitment to emerge as a meaningful player in the Innovation & Digital Banking space.

The day also marks the immediate need to step up and fight against wildlife crime, which has wide-ranging economic, environmental and social impacts. 3 March was proclaimed as World Wildlife Day by United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Three South Asian women to receive International Women of Courage Award

Three South Asian women were selected from 10 extraordinary women belonging to 10 different countries for the prestigious International Women of Courage Award for the year 2015, which is given by the US Secretary of State. Niloofar Rahmani, Nadia Sharmeen and Tabassum Adnan will be honoured with the award for demonstrating exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for peace, justice, human rights and gender equality. They will be receiving the award in the presence of First Lady of the US Michelle Obama in Washington DC on 10 March 2015.

Agreement on Monetary Policy Framework signed by RBI and Union Government

An agreement on Monetary Policy aimed at bringing inflation below 6 percent by January 2016, has been signed between the Central Government and the Reserve Bank of India(RBI). This agreement will empower RBI to operate the monetary policy framework in order to meet the challenge of an increasingly complex economy. If the RBI fails to meet the target, then it will have to report to the Union Government the reasons for the failure to achieve the target. The objective of monetary policy is to primarily maintain price stability, while keeping in mind the objective of growth.

Obama renominates Sunil Sabharwal to key IMF post

The Indian-American investor, Sunil Sabharwal has been re-nominated by the US President Barack Obama to a key administration post as Alternate Executive Director at the IMF. He was first nominated to the same position in April 2014. Sabharwal has been an independent investor since 2006. 

NASA’s Dawn spacecraft arrives at dwarf planet's orbit

NASA's Dawn spacecraft has become the first mission in the history to achieve orbit around the dwarf planet Ceres. According to NASA, the spacecraft had reached 61,000 kilometres from Ceres when it was captured by the dwarf planet’s gravity. Following this accomplishment, Dawn will work on providing new insights and capturing images of the planet. Dawn is currently in Ceres’ shadows and won’t take new pictures until it emerges in April.

International Women's Day was celebrated on 8th March
