Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman of Ambuja Neotia group, was on 20 November 2015 elected as the President of industry body Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for the year 2016. Neotia will succeed the current FICCI President Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson and Managing Director of Bharat Hotels Ltd, during the chamber's AGM in December 2015.


Mali siege: Three killed as gunmen take 170 hostages, including 20 Indians, at Radisson hotel

Gunmen went on a shooting rampage at the luxury Radisson Blu hotel in Mali's capital Bamako, seizing 170 guests and staff in an ongoing hostage-taking. At least three people have been killed in the siege. The victims comprised two Malian citizens and a French national. Twenty Indians among 170 hostages at Radisson hotel, according to Ministry of External Affairs. MEA is in touch with Indian Embassy in Mali over hostage crisis at hotel. The hostages are reported to be safe.

Indian-American politician Swati Dandekar has been nominated as Executive Director to Asian Development Bank with ambassadorial rank by US President Barack Obama. The first-ever Indian-American to be elected to Iowa House of Representatives in 2003, Dandekar, 64, would replace Robert M Orr, who has held the position since 2010.



India, China to set up framework on terrorism, cyber crime

The Scheme Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and Management of Fisheries was in news as Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Radha Mohan Singh on the eve of World Fisheries Day 2015 on 21 November 2015 mentioned about it. The scheme was conceptualized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 and entails a total outlay of 3000 crore rupees.

US drug giant Pfizer is reportedly moving closer to sign a deal to buy Botox maker Allergan for $150 billion, or about Rs 9,88,000 crore, in what would be the biggest transaction in drug industry so far. The deal, if concluded, will eclipse Pfizer's $90-billion buyout of Warner Lambert in 2000.


India, Singapore sign 10 MoUs as Modi, Lee hold bilateral talks
